TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS FOR THOSE ARRIVING AT HOUSTON OR HOBBY AIRPORT

If you are flying into Houston - transportation options - some of our renters have used the supershuttle.  They pick you up at your door and take you to or from the airport for  $25.00 each way.  Metro offers a bus every thirty minutes to downtown for 1.50.

 HOUSTON HEIGHTS INFORMATION AND MORE

The first weekend of every month is the 1st Saturday of the month event in the Heights.  There is a variety of sales and art shows.  The free trolley ride tours are wonderful and informative of the history and architecture of the area.  I haven't been able to go lately but info can be found here.  Or just go to 19th Street and Lawrence.

Also I may not have sent everyone this information that might be of interest while you are in Houston, or relocating to Houston

Here is our favorite website for finding restaurants in Houston

http://www.b4-u-eat.com/  our zip code is 77008

Right around the block on Shepherd is The Texas Cafeteria, best greasy spoon with 1.85 and 2.99 breakfast  special before 11 am (closed Sunday)

Spanish Flowers is one of our favorite Tex Mex restaurants.  Open 24 hours except Tuesday (closes at 10pm)

I also like Jax Grill over here on Shepherd.   Great crawfish soup!

My husband pointed out that I needed to add Gabby's BBQ on Shepherd.  Ask for lean cut beef if you want no fat at all and their  BBQ sauce is the BEST

Thousands of places, but that website is really helpful.

A new place opened up on W 20th Street called Cedar Creek which is a neat indoor outdoor laid back place.
They serve gourmet burgers and sandwiches and salads.  There's vegetarian choices too.
FYI everyone probably knows but me, that the BOCA Burger is vegetarian

This is the website for the dog place just a block away.

And the Holocost museum is free, but takes donations.

The Children's Museum is free from 6pm to 8pm every Thursday.  It can get pretty busy.

Other things you should consider while you are in Houston, the Port Authority does a boat tour Free!, we went last year and it was great.
You need to book online here. http://boattours.poha.com/boattour/

Also a tour of downtown is always nice through the underground tunnels and the above ground parks.  This trip should include a visit to the Chase Tower building (one of the tallest I think) that has an elevator that goes to an observation deck,

Try:  http://www.houstontx.gov/abouthouston/exploringtunnels.html

I'm a relative new comer to Houston and still discovering the many great places and events this city offers.
